Ways To Dress Up Your Smoothie



There are so many ways to dress up your smoothie and if you find that smoothies could be a drag on some days. But you know that they are nutritious and so healthy for you, and drink them regularly. This is one sure way to perk up your smoothie mood! I drink my smoothies 25 days a month and that says a lot about me being a smoothie fanatic. Hope you will like my fun ideas!

Smoothie (vegan)

  • 2 frozen bananas

  • 1/2 cup sweetened almond milk

  • 1 green lime (freshly squeezed)

  • 1 drop of natural food dye (ocean blue color)

Method

Blend all of the above ingredients in a power blender till smooth and creamy.

Vanilla Buttercream (dairy-free, vegan, gluten-free)

  • 1/2 cup of vegan shortening (I like to use the brand "Navita" which is organic shortening made from non=hydrogenated red palm oil and coconut oil)

  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract

  • 1 cup of icing sugar

  • 1/2 tbsp of any favorite jam

Method

Cream the shortening for 1 minute with an electric mixer. Add in the vanilla and cream for another minute. Now add in the icing sugar and whisk for 5 mins until the mixture turns into a fluffy white color. Lastly add in the jam and whisk for a further 3 mins before it is ready. Use a flat spatular and scoop the whipped buttercream into a piping bag.

**If you find the whip a little wet, add 1 tbsp of icing sugar.

Additional toppings:

  • 1 tbsp of pure 100% peanut butter

  • 1 dairy-free dark chocolate bar
